Use macros to personalize your templates

Macros let VetRec fill in the right information for you—based on the context of the visit—so you don’t have to do it manually.

Think of macros as smart shortcuts that automatically insert details like the pet’s name, the visit date, or the vet’s name into your templates.

Macros are supported in Notes, Client Documents, and Records Recap templates.

How to Add Macros to a Template

  1. Open your template (for Notes, Client Documents, or Records Recap).

  2. In any section, choose the “Fixed Text” entry type.

  3. Under the textbox, you’ll see a list called “Available Macros.”

  4. Click any macro you want to use—it will appear in your text box, wrapped in double curly braces, like this: {{patient}}.

That just means it’s a placeholder. VetRec will fill in the real info later.

What Happens When You Use Macros

Once you’ve added macros into your template, you’re done! Whenever you use that template to generate a note or document, VetRec will replace the macros with the correct values automatically.
