Using the Template Builder that VetRec provides, you can customize everything from what information is included, the structure, the style and more.

Templates are structure on VetRec with Sections, Entries and Sub-entries. Templates can use a combination of these building blocks to achieve the ideal structure for your notes.

Adding Sections

The top level block for templates are Sections. Within the Template Builder, you can add a couple different types of sections:

  • New Section: Creates an Empty Section

  • Pre-built Sections: For common uses like Physical Exams, Plans, Vitals, etc

  • Section Spaces: Adds lines of spaces for when your notes generate

  • Saved Sections: Save your own sections and use them for later (more on Saved Sections here)

  • Charts: Add dental charts to your template (support for more species and body maps coming soon!)

You can drag them in like this

Configuring Sections

Once the section is added if can be configured. Sections can be configured in several types:

  • Section: By configuring the section as a regular section, the section will simply act a header that contains other entries inside of it. Ex:

    Subjective:
    - Chief Complaint: <Info>
    - Onset: <Info>
    ...

  • Paragraph, Number or List: By configuring the section to any of these types, the section will act as an entry for information. There won't be any entries under it just directly the information defined for it. Ex.

    History: <Info>
  • Group: By configuring the section as a group, the section will use the defined entries inside of it as a group that will be repeated. Ex.

    Names and Addresses:

    - Name: Bruno
    - Address: 123 Broadway St

    - Name: Chewy
    - Address: 34 Main St
  • Fixed Text: With this configuration, the section will simply contain the text provided. This can be useful to provide standardized information or add a signature to the notes. You may also add macros to have us populate key visit information for you (more on Macros here) Ex.

    - Footer: <FIXED TEXT>

  • Smart Pick: With this configuration, VetRec will pick one (or many) options that are provided. (more on Smart Pick here) Ex.

    - Immunization Status: Patient received Rabies vaccine

To configure a section type, pick from the drop down:

Adding Entries

For section that support entries (Ex. Normal Section and Grouped Section), you can add entries inside of the section. You can choose between blank entries or pre-built ones like medications, vaccines, owner discussion and more.

Simply drag and drop the entry onto the section you want.

Configuring Entries

Similar to sections, entries can be configured as different types.

  • Paragraph, Number, List: These configurations all work similarly to represent the entry. If you want the entry to be a number (Ex. Temperature) or a list of items (Ex. Vaccines), you can simply choose the type you need. Ex.

    - Vaccines: <Info>

  • Fixed text: With this configuration, the entry will simply contain the text provided. This can be useful to provide standardized information or add a signature to the notes. Ex.

    - Message: <FIXED TEXT>

  • Entry Spaces: Similar to Section Spaces, this configuration allows you add spaces between entries

  • Smart Pick: With this configuration, VetRec will pick one (or many) options that are provided. (more on Smart Pick here) Ex.

    - Immunization Status: Patient received Rabies vaccine

  • Subsection: Using this configuration allows you to add entries inside of the entry. This can be useful to create further levels in the structure of the template.

    - Entry:
    - Sub Entry: <Info>
    - Sub Entry: <Info>

To configure a entry type, pick from the drop down:

Adding Subentries

To add a subentry into a subsection, simply drag an entry into the subsection.

Configuring Subentries

Subentries have all of the same types that entries have. The one exception is subsections are not allowed, as this is the deepest the Section tree can go!

Removing Sections, Entries, and Subentries

If you want to remove a section/entry/subentry, simply locate the Trash Can in the top right box of the section/entry/subentry and click it! Your section/entry/subentry will be removed.

Don't forget to save your template!
