Multi-note visits on VetRec is a powerful way to create distinct notes for each interaction within the same visit. As your visit progresses, you can document all your interactions for a patient in different notes within the same visit, ensuring your documentation stays clear, organized and complete – without the clutter.
Example workflows include:
SOAP Note + Phone Call Log: Create a SOAP note for the in-clinic exam, then add separate notes for follow-up calls—keeping communication logs organized and traceable.
Intake Notes + Daily Inpatient Updates: Document admission with an intake note, then track daily progress with new notes—ideal for emergency and critical care cases.
SOAP + Ultrasound: Keep diagnostics organized by documenting ultrasound findings in a separate note while maintaining the original SOAP assessment.
SOAP + Health Certificate: Document a physical exam and create travel or adoption certificates as separate notes—eliminating duplicate work.
Tech Notes + Doctor Notes: Enable technicians to record vitals and history, followed by veterinarian findings—creating an efficient, team-based workflow.
Web
Web
The web version supports creating a new note from a new recording, from an uploaded audio file or from existing recordings in the visit.
In the Notes tab on the All Visits page, click + New note (or alternatively, you can click Add to visit then + Create new note).
This will give you a pop-up that allows you to select what template to use for your new note and to choose how you would like to create the new note. Options include:
Record now: This option will take you back to the scribe page to record new audio that will be processed into a new note after recording is complete.
Upload recording file: This option will present you with an option to upload an audio file and process it into a new note.
Reusing existing recordings. This option will present you a list of existing recordings for you to pick from to generate a new note.
Regardless which option you pick, the end result will be a new note under the same visit, like shown above. You can use the tabs to select between visits. All actions (export, download, regenerate, etc.) and D.A.V.I.D will be only applied to the selected note.
If you would like to add to more details to an existing note, you can do so using the Add to note flow. When you have multiple notes, the Add to visit button will give you an option to select which note you want to add to. You can only add to one note at a time.
If you would like to regenerate an existing note with different recordings, you can do so with regenerate notes.

Once done, process the recording as usual. It will bring you back to the visit notes, where you will see a new note under the same visit. You can navigate between notes in a visit using the new picker that is only available when multiple notes are present.
